The last thirty years I have been inspired by the environment around me, whether it be in or outside my Maine home, or by traveling to places like the Southwest, Canadian Rockies, or Italy. Acadia National Park has had a great influence on my art.
Oils have been my medium for years through the late 1980’s while I attended University of Southern Maine graduating with a BA in Art, majoring in painting. In later years I’ve enjoyed the use of acrylics on canvas. Color and acrylics are what I use to express my sense of place. I’ve found the use of paint on canvas with various hues of reds, oranges and yellows as under painting is very satisfying to me.
I have participated in Art in the Park, South Portland, Maine and the Cape Elizabeth Labor Day Art Show for the past twenty years and have recently retired from twenty eight years at a local nursery school where I helped with the art program.
My painting studio, Places of the Spirit, is shared with my husband who creates stained glass pieces. We share the space, the music and the laughter.
I enjoy being with our children and grandchildren. We garden with flowers and vegetables. Photography is a passion; selling cards with shots of my paintings, flowers and angels. All this enriches my heart and my painting life.
